Pevin's Tower

Jul. 8th, 2008 11:12 am It's been a while... So I haven't posted for a good long while, just been too busy. Now I have a really good reason to post though, Makayla Jade Ellis was born on the 3rd of July, is 7 Lbs & 14 ounces, and is beautiful. On a related note, Jenny's mom & dad're making me crazy. 10 comments - Leave a comment

Mar. 15th, 2008 11:34 pm I was recently introduced to the webpage "make use of" It takes some of the geekiest stuff out there, and does about the ungeekiest thing possible, it drops out all discussion of how things work and why, and instead tell you what they do, and what you can do with them. With a tight schedule it makes getting the usefull end of being a geek easy, without the time consumption.
Stuff it's already introduced me to... Ways to get past pesky sites that make you sign up to read articles. A site that'll find whatever you're looking for halfway between two points. Great for meeting up with friends that live a ways away. A site that turns other webpages into PDF's a site that'llwatch items you like and tell you as soon as they go on sale. and even an IT information database where you can get answers to problems you're having or help others. Mar. 8th, 2008 06:38 pm The more I read about them, the more I want to start learning Krav Maga and Parkour. (wikipidia definitions on the other side of the links.)
I'd like Jenny, and eventually our daughter to learn Krav Maga too, as it's supposed to be a great martial arts system, and unlike many of them it's not taught as a sport, it focuses completely on self defense.
The problem with Parkour is, like skateboarding back when it got started, it's misunderstood by some people, there are few people that do it, and it doesn't lend itself well to classes, so I'd probably have to start practicing by myself, but it would be nice to find a training partner, and I'm pretty sure Jenny won't want to do it. Maybe I can get started on it, get some friends interested, and then get them to try it with me.
I suppose nows not the best time to be wanting to start this stuff anyway, oh well, maybe I'll have time eventually. Leave a comment

Mar. 8th, 2008 11:43 am So I'm weeks late on both of these, Oh well.
Body worlds was cool. It'd have been better if there weren't so many people there at the same time, even at the 10:30 showing, and I thought there would be more showing, but still very cool. They had made molds of animals circulatory systems by injecting red resins into their veins like embalming fluid and then removing the rest of the body, they had a chicken like that and a rabbit.
Also, I have to say the nice thing about some of having to deal with some of the larger expenses of the year is getting the money back in with tax returns. Leave a comment
